Many of my figurative pieces are male or female torsos ranging from one third to full life-size. I prefer to work with partial figures, emphasizing the many shapes of the human body rather than depicting specific individuals. In my abstract works I often try to develop forms that suggest plasticity or malleability, properties not ordinarily associated with stone.   I enjoy working within the natural limitations of stone to produce sculpture with textures and patterns that complement or contrast the form and material of the subject. I attempt to develop finishes on stone that produce a changing visual effect in sun, shadow, and rain.
