[Homage to Ian Fleming.] I work in alabaster, granite, limestone, marble, soapstone and travertine to produce both abstract and figurative sculpture. Many of my figurative pieces are male or female torsos ranging from one third to full life-size. I prefer to work with partial figures, emphasizing the many shapes of the human body rather than depicting specific individuals. In my abstract works I often try to develop forms that suggest plasticity or malleability, properties not ordinarily associated with stone.

I enjoy working within the natural limitations of stone to produce sculpture with textures and patterns that complement or contrast the form and material of the subject. I attempt to develop finishes on stone that produce a changing visual effect in sun, shadow, and rain. Above all I try to produce works that evoke both visual and tactile responses.
